Russian art 1870 - 1930

The Hermod Lannung Collection of Russian art

In 1997 the museum was bequeathed a major collection of Russian art by the estate of former barrister Hermod Lannung.

The collection contains some 100 paintings and drawings covering the period 1870 to 1930, thereby dividing naturally into two categories of pre-revolutionary and Soviet art respectively. The former includes figures such as Korovin, Polenov, Benois and Levitan, while the Soviet era is represented by among others Gerasimov and Petrov-Vodkin.
